Though technically I started this project in February it's definitely one that I've slowly been working on over the last couple of months. I'm in no rush beause I want to get the small details just right but I'm definitely already excited to see how far it's come.
So what do you say? Wanna take a look?
So the plan for this Laundry Room Makeover Progress was/is the following:
Remove hanging rod and add shelves (I used shelves I already had from IKEA) ✔️
Paint (walls, cabinets, shelves) ✔️
Add hardware to cabinets ✔️
Wall Art (added some but still looking)
Stick on tile flooring (still deciding)
Paper Towel Holder under cabinet ✔️
Wall clothes hanger (pending order)
Change out ceiling light fixture (still deciding)
Not a lot can go into this room but even the small details I think have and will make all the difference.
So far, I've primed and painted the cabinets, walls and shelves. I've even added the hardware which I debated if I wanted to screw them on or just glue them on like I did with my office cabinetry. I glued them. It's just easier, quicker and well, no screwing necessary.
I have yet to order the stick on tile flooring, decisions, decisions. For now I've added a rug that I bought at World Market and we originally had in our master bathroom. It won't be staying there permanently but it has inspired the color scheme of art and decor in the laundrdy room. Not sure what it is lately but I've been obsessing over pinks and blues as of lately and I want to add touches of those colors in every room now.
I've been on the hunt for some vintage art work on the FBMP I've had a few found at garage sales and thrifting to I've added a mirror in here and an asian art print for now. The last of the details are definitely the exciting part for me including some of the finishing touches that'll go on the shelves once I figure that out. For now I've only added the necessary and the cabinet hides what we don't want out and displayed.
I decided to keep the door cabinet that was already there simply because it allows for us to store extra items that are not very pretty to look at including any extra paper towels, detergent, etc. And I'll be organizing it more once I figure out the right system.
Although I am kicking myself because I had pictures saved from the laundry room before I started giving it a makeover. I must've deleted them not sure because I know I had them.
Anyway the picture below is from the listing before we bought this house therefore you can at least get somewhat of an idea of what it looked like beforehand.
So this is how it started.....
it was gray and cabinets were the orangey wood just like in the kitchen.
It wasn't ugly but it wasn't pretty either.
And we all know that if we're going to do laundry then we at least want it to be somewhat inspiring or motivating right?!
I love how calming it feels for now. I do have a permanent hamper in here for now that holds our dirty extra towels, sheets, bedding, etc. Its the little necessary things that you want to have that make sense but don't stick out like a sore thumb. I don't want this room to feel cluttered especially since it's a pretty enclosed space.
Another thing I'm trying to figure out at the moment is how to hide the electrical box that's right in the middle of the opposite wall of the washer and dryer. So that's on my mind. Again it's a work in progress.
These pictures are not the greatest due to lighting in the office, but I did my best capturing it best I could.
It's coming along and though it might not seem like much it's progress nonetheless and I'm happy with how it's going. I cannot wait to add more especially the light fixture and more art. I'm sharing some of the details I've used and added so far for reference below.
Always so happy when you're here and hope that these ideas inspire you daily.
Thank you for stopping by. Stay tuned for more.
