I love the lighting in this room. I think it's probably the best lit room in the house. And so I'm torn between keeping it light or giving it a moodier look.
In today's post Guest Room Progress + Painted Bed Frame , I'm sharing with you what I've done in this space so far, the progress and the direction it's possibly going because you never know, I might change my mind once or twice.
Like I mentioned on my instagram post, this room is soon becoming another favorite of mine. I think I'm just really in love with how this FBMP full size sleigh bed frame turned out after giving it a couple of coats of chalk paint in a new favorite color Clay by Behr Decorative Chalk Paint. I purchased the bed frame for only $40 and it fit perfectly in the room, anything bigger wouldn't have been the right scale or look for this not so big space. But the scallop detailing on the edging is what did it for me.
Although it is a small bedroom it has potential. I'm really looking forward to adding design elements in here that will make it feel somewhat grand. Board and batten is definitely something I'm considering and adding more thrifted and FBMP finds for decor and furnishings and eventually change the lighting or give it a more fitting look, I guess you'll have to wait and see.
Last weekend I went to Homegoods and purchased new bed sheets (not thrifted) which truly inspired the vibe and the direction I want to go in with color in here. It has the blue and light brown tones and hues I wanted in this bedroom to begin with. So the light brown paint color on the bed frame is the perfect color to tie it all in.
I'll be adding more lush bedding in here as I find the right textures and colors I want to incorporate. But in the meantime I'm loving how it's already feeling in here. Cozy, warm and inviting. It is a guest room after all.
Adding cozy and necessary items that guests will need and appreciate are important to me. I've been collecting some items to add and finding them as I go. The chair and table in this corner of the room are both also FBMP finds, pillow I've had, pillow cover is from Amazon. I figured this could be a sitting area for when someone is putting on their shoes, checking their messages on their phone or laptop, or simply sipping their tea or coffee.
I'm excited how this room is turning out so far, and it will only get better so stay tuned friends. I'm linking items I used and purchased for the DIY of the bed frame and similar links to the furniture in the room below.
