In this post; This Behind the Scenes: Our Low Budget Master Bath Makeover is a project I've had on my mind since moving into this home, but I knew it was going to take time for me to get around to making a decisions for details. With so many other projects taking priority and on my mind I knew that once I got around to working on our low budget master bath makeover it was going to take a whole weekend from start to finish. I didn't want to start and let it sit like most of the projects I work on.
I at least least knew that I wanted wall texture, almost like a limestone but plaster like. So that was the start of how the rest came about.

I love taking my time with considering my options, doing research and really putting serious though as to what a low budget makeover would allow me to do in our master bath to make it feel like a sanctuary for a 1/4 of the cost maybe even a 1/3.
Here's a peak of how this Behind the Scenes: Our Low Budget Master Bath Makeover and how it started ...
As you can see from the before pictures, everything was painted brown.
Eventually I decided that a minimalistic look is what would be doable yet letting the textured walls be the big impact, they would be ideal and doable within the budget because the hardest part would be the texture on the walls with. And even that is DIY-able.
Everything else would eventually come down to hardware, fixtures and lighting which I would and am taking my time with deciding on.
The Vanity
The first step in a master bath update is often the vanity. In this case it was just a matter of painting the cabinets. Truth is we're eventually changing out the faucet hardware but otherwise the counter space and sink are in great shape so there's no need to do so at the moment.
I painted our cabinets with none other than chalk paint of course. It's what I prefer when it comes to cabinets because it adheres very well and long lasting for sure.
Added Hardware
Eventually I also added the hardware with none other than cement all purpose glue. This knobs and handles are from Amazon and they're all over our home now, I just love that patina look of them but also how they elevate the cabinetry instantly.
When picking hardware, consider your overall bathroom theme. For example, if you lean towards a modern look, geometric designs might appeal to you. Remember, small details—like stylish knobs or sleek handles—can transform the space.
A Relaxing Color Palette
Color choices were vital in establishing the mood of our master bath. For this project, we opted for a calming palette of greens, creams and a salmon pink. This combination contributed to a spa-like atmosphere, inspiring relaxation.
If you're unsure where to begin, test some color swatches on your walls. Light colors can make a small space feel larger, while deeper tones may create a cozy effect. Consider adding texture through towels, rugs, and accessories to enhance visual interest.
In this case, I made sure to grab quite a few color swatches to look at in the bathroom before fully committing. It took me quite some time to decide even once it came down to buying the paint, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it once it was on the walls.
Sure enough, I painted a portion and lived with it a couple of days and soon realized both colors were too dark, so I added some of my leftover white paint to both until I reached the versions I preferred. And these were the end result.
Color used on the main walls is Roman Plaster by BEHR (satin sheen)
These two colors are beautiful and though I made them slightly lighter, I'd pick them again for any other project.
After applying the joint compound onto the walls which by the way is very messy, so I'm glad that this was a small project, but can I say it was a very satisfying project to see come to life. I knew I wanted the limestone plaster texture but I didn't want it to be fine, I wanted it to be noticeable and I achieved just that.
The toilette room only got a paint makeover. I love the color because it's pink but not a girlie pink and it has a brown undertone which makes it more subtle. I've been wanting a room in the house in this color and this room was it.
Now it just needs a new ceiling light fixture.
Depending on the time of day, the texture and color look slightly different but still beautiful.
My husband came back from his weekend trip and was shockingly impressed :)
